Welcome to the Birmingham Yoga Studio

Prabhakara is offering two yoga classes in the studio, Tuesday evenings, 6.00-7.15pm and Thursdays, midday-1.30pm. Both are hybrid classes, so you have the opportunity to attend in person, or online. Please read the important information for in-person classes (below). Booking details on the Classes page.

We are delighted to welcome students back to the yoga studio. However, we will be doing things differently to keep everyone in the class and in the building safe through social distancing, increased hygiene and wearing a mask in the public spaces.

Please do not attend a class (even if you have already booked) if you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has.

On entering the building please wear a mask, keep a 2-metre distance from others and use the hand sanitiser provided.

We encourage you to bring your own equipment if at all possible. We will have some equipment available but understand that once you use it, it will be quarantined for three days before we can reuse it. We have limited stocks of equipment and don’t want to run out unnecessarily.

The cafĂ© area will be closed – please bring your own water.

The toilets will be open for use on a one out-one in basis so if you live locally consider using the toilet at home to reduce use where possible.

The changing rooms are not available so please arrive in your yoga kit.

Arrive between 15 and 5 minutes before the class. Go straight to the yoga studio. Place your mat in one of the marked areas on the floor. Once you are on your mat you may remove your mask.

James has restarted his classes in the Yoga Studio. Carol and Julie will continue to offer online classes only for the time being.

If you would like to make a donation towards our costs while the Yoga Studio is gradually reopening, you may do so here.

The Birmingham Yoga Studio, at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre in Moseley, hosts yoga classes for beginners and experienced practitioners. Yoga is suitable for people of all ages and ability. However, if you have any medical conditions please contact the teacher in advance to ask for advice.

As well as regular weekly classes the Yoga Studio offers a programme of weekend workshops, occasional courses and other events.

All equipment is provided – just bring comfortable clothes that stretch! A range of yoga equipment (mats, mat bags, belts, blocks, bricks, books and CDs) is also available for sale in the Yoga Studio shop.

Most of the classes are taught by Iyengar teachers Prabhakara, Carol Haynes and Julie Baker, and Ashtanga teacher James Critchlow.

The Yoga Studio and other rooms are also available for hire.
